Sargent Andros Door Plate Cast Iron

Door face plate. Made of cast iron, or as Sargent called their version “rustproof iron” with a bronze cup. “Andros” design by Sargent & Co. Cir. 1910-1926. The door plate features two bold borders and a textured background. It measures 7 3/8″h x 2 1/2″w.

There is a scratch along the right side near the doorknob hole where it appears the rustproof finish is worn off.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
