The Clinton Lock Company, established in 1877 by David J. Batchelder as the Warner Lock Company, moved to Clinton in 1890 and became the United States Lock Company. Renamed the Clinton Lock Company in 1910, it specialized in builders’ hardware and locks, producing 87 varieties and exporting globally. By 1949, it employed 275 workers and operated a state-of-the-art facility with foundries, machine shops, and design research. The company was family-led for four generations, with significant contributions to Clinton’s industrial growth.
