1960’s Zip Code Pin
A promotional pin put out by the post office in the 1960’s when zip codes were introduced in an attempt to get people to start using zip codes when mailing items. It features Mr. Zip, the mascot for the promotion. These pins were handed out to postal workers and distributed at events. The zip (zone improvement plan) code system was introduced in 1963. The pin measures 1 1/2″diam. and has a single pin across the back. A colorful Mr. Zip is featured with the motto “use zip code” at the bottom. Excellent condition for age.
