Cast Iron Keyhole Cover

Small keyhole cover made of cast iron. This type was made for use on doors. Although these were made for use on doors, they are small enough to work on furniture pieces as well. These would be used in conjunction with a rosette as an alternative to a full door plate. They have two small attachment holes for a very small screw or brad nail. They are slightly shaped to add a bit of decorative flair. These keyhole covers are early, 1880’s-early 1900’s. They usually originally had a black finish. Some very small remnants of the finish may remain. Similar keyhole covers were made by a number of manufacturers. The keyhole cover measures 1 1/2″h x 3/4″w.
