Mallory Wheeler Skeleton Key
Flat skeleton key for use with door locks made by Mallory Wheeler. It is marked on the shaft M. W. CO. The key measures 2 1/2″l with a 3/4″l pin (insert). The bit has a groove running across at the top on the right side. It has a notch on each side near the middle and a notch on the bottom in the middle. The bit measures 14.9mm high from the top.

Mallory Wheeler
Mallory Wheeler began in 1834 in New Haven Conn. Under the name Pierpont & Hotchkiss. In 1866 the name changed to Davenport, Mallory & Co., then in 1868 it became Mallory, Wheeler & Co. under John Davenport Wheeler. They made high quality, quite ornate hardware and won a number of awards for their designs. Sargent was a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. The company closed due to bancruptcy in 1913.
