Reading Windsor Door Plate

Cast iron door plate with bronze plating made by Reading.  Cir. 1890. One variation of the popular and long lived Windsor pattern. It features various decorative elements geometric , floral and leaf designs set on a japanned background. Eastlake style. The door plate measures 5 1/2″h x 1 1/2″w. There is some plating loss.

Reading

Reading Hardware began in 1872 in Reading, Pennsylvania. It produced both basic and highly decorative builders hardware. Reading’s hardware was used in many notable buildings including the White House in Washington, D.C. The operation closed in 1950.
