Reading Windsor Doorknob
Decorative doorknob. Reading “Windsor” design. This was a very popular design and it was produced for a number of years. Due to its longevity, the design had a few different styles within it. This version is made of cast iron with a bronze band across the middle. The design extends from the top to the bottom of the doorknob. Cir. 1885, although some forms of the design lasted until 1930. The metal has a bit of pitting.

Reading Hardware began in 1872 in Reading, Pennsylvania. It produced both basic and highly decorative builders hardware. Reading’s hardware was used in many notable buildings including the White House in Washington, D.C. The operation closed in 1950.
