Sargent Bluebird Doorbell Lever
Cast iron decorative T bar lever for a Sargent Patent doorbell. Made by Sargent cir. 1888. This also came in a bronze version. Highly decorative and intricately shapes, typical of early pieces. It features a bluebird in the center of the lever and floral and geometric motifs throughout. Eastlake style. The piece measures 6 1/4″h x 2 1/4″w with a 2 1/2″l lever extending out the back.

Sargent
Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
