Sargent Skeleton Key 8

Skeleton key made by Sargent for use with doors. It is marked Sargent & Co. 8 on one side of the shaft and Pat May 15, 88 (1888) on the reverse. The key measures 2 3/4″l with a 3/4″ long pin (insert). A groove runs along the right side of the bit near the bottom. Notches on each side.

Some rust residue, but this should not affect functionality.

Sargent

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
