Description
Cast Iron Rosette Pat 1862
Basic cast iron rosette escutcheon with a small notch on one side. This could possibly be for a small thumb latch or perhaps it was to give better access to the securing screw in the neck of the doorknob. I cannot find this setup in any of the catalogues I have access to. The back is marked Pat. July 15 1862. It seems to be related to a patent by D. Skidmore for a new type of knob attachment. There are three holes for attachment. The rosette measures 1 15/16″diam. The opening for the doorknob fits most standard knobs at 3/4″diam. The notch does not interfere with knob function.
Note- Antique rosettes are not large enough to cover a modern hole. If you have a modern style hole in your door, consider a full sized door plate to cover.
This Cast Iron Rosette Pat 1862 is an antique item and may show wear due to age. This may include scratches, pitting, patina, finish loss, rust or other general wear. We attempt to include any significant damage beyond regular wear within the description.
