Corbin Attica Doorknob

Cast bronze doorknob made by Corbin. Attica design featuring the common Greek inspired “egg and dart” styling. This particular version is slightly different from most in that is only has 10 repetitions of the pattern. More often the pattern was a bit more dense. Cir. 1905-1927. The doorknob measures 2 1/4″ diameter. The base hole for the doorknob shaft is just a tiny bit larger than standard,  but a standard sized shaft should work fine with it.

Corbin

P&F Corbin was founded by brothers Philip and Frank Corbin in New Britain, CT. in 1851. Interestingly, Philip previously worked for the company that would become Russell and Erwin, which Corbin would merge with in 1902. It ran with a number of subsidiary companies in the 1900’s including Corbin Cabinet Lock Co., Corbin Screw Company and even a Corbin Motor Vehicle Corporation! Corbin is still in business today under ownership of Assa Abloy under the name Corbin Russwin.
