Corbin Skeleton Key 12

Skeleton key made by Corbin for use with doors. Marked Corbin 12 on one side and Patd 87 (1887) on reverse. The key measures 2 3/4″l with a 5/8″l pin (insert). It has notches on each side near the bottom and a small notch on the bottom middle. There is a groove running across the right side at the level of the notches. The bit measures 1/2″h from the top of the pin.

Some rust residue, but this should not affect functionality.

Corbin

P&F Corbin was founded by brothers Philip and Frank Corbin in New Britain, CT. in 1851. Interestingly, Philip previously worked for the company that would become Russell and Erwin, which Corbin would merge with in 1902. It ran with a number of subsidiary companies in the 1900’s including Corbin Cabinet Lock Co., Corbin Screw Company and even a Corbin Motor Vehicle Corporation! Corbin is still in business today under ownership of Assa Abloy under the name Corbin Russwin.
