Lockwood Broken Leaf Plate Cast Iron

Early door plate by Lockwood in the popular Eastlake style “Broken Leaf” pattern. Cir. 1894. Made of cast iron. Originally it was bronze plated, but most of the plating has worn off. This design was also available in  cast brass. Finely detailed. The door plate measures 5 3/8″h x 1 1/2″w. It is marked120 on the back.

Lockwood

Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
