Lockwood Cambridge Doorknob

Decorative oval doorknob made by Lockwood. Cambridge design.  Cir. 1897-1900. The doorknob is made of cast iron and features floral and spiral motifs around the edge and pushing into the slightly textured middle. The bottom also has detailing with a spiral pattern. The doorknob measures 2 1/2″h x 1 1/2″w. It takes a standard square shaft.

Lockwood

Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
