Wrought bronze doorknob made by Lockwood. Fleur De Lis design. Cir 1897. It features a fivefold design of Fleur De Lis. The doorknob measures 2 1/4″ diam. It fits on a standard square non-threaded shaft,

The doorknob has a slightly variable patina with darker and lighter areas. There are old scratches and dings, mainly along the rim and bottom. See images for details.

Lockwood

Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
