Lockwood Saxon Doorknob

Wrought steel decorative doorknob made by Lockwood. Saxon design. Cir 1914. It features a threefold floral type design. The doorknob measures 2 1/4″ diam. It fits on a standard square non-threaded shaft,

The knob has some wear and rust damage/pocking.

The same design was available in brass and bronze, but was called Oxford.

Lockwood

Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
