Reading Fenmore Door Plate

Decorative door face plate made by Reading. Cir. 1911. It is made of wrought bronze. This design was also offered in a cast bronze version. The door plate features intricate shell and urn decorations at the top and bottom of the plate with shaping to follow the design. The door plate measures 8 3/4″h x 2 1/2″w.

Reading

Reading Hardware began in 1872 in Reading, Pennsylvania. It produced both basic and highly decorative builders hardware. Reading’s hardware was used in many notable buildings including the White House in Washington, D.C. The operation closed in 1950.
