Sargent Hudson French Door Plate

Small door place plate made for french doors or screen doors. The plate is made of wrought steel with a nickel plate. It measures 5 1/2″l x 1 1/4″w.   “Hudson” Design by Sargent & Co. Cir 1926. Basic shaping and simple slightly decorative design typical of the 1920’s. There are two small nicks at the top near the screw hole.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
