Sargent Hampton Door Plate (Door Plate 31)

Shaped door plate made by Sargent. Hampton design. Cir. 1920. The door plate is made of wrought steel with a bronze, almost flashed copper finish.  It has soft rounded corners and flared sides. The door plate measures 7 1/8″l x 2 1/2″w.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
