Chicago Brewster Door Plate for keyed entry.
A heavy cast bronze door plate made by Chicago Hardware. Cir. 1895. The Brewster design features a monogram C at the top and basket weave and Greek inspired decorations. Unique applied oval pieces give the design a more 3 dimensional feel. This door plate is set up with a large hole at the top for modern style keyed entry and a doorknob hole below. This type of plate is usually used on the outside of an exterior door. The door plate is in excellent condition.
The door plate measures 12″h x 2 5/8″w.

Chicago Hardware
Chicago Hardware is best known for manufacturing the unique Niles doorknob and lock setup. Hence, it is sometimes referred to as Niles Chicago hardware. Patented in 1878, it was soley produced by Chicago Hardware and is not interchangeable with other brands. The Chicago Hardware Company along with the Niles patent upon purchased by the Barrows Lock Company.
