Lockwood Bordeaux Doorknob
Decorative cast bronze doorknob made by Lockwood. Bordeaux design. It features a highly decorative swirl pattern with raised edges forming to a center nub. The swirls resemble large flowing leaves. Cir. 1897-1914. Doorknob measures 2 1/5″ diam. Unique shaping, it feels quite nice in the hand.

Lockwood
Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
