Lockwood Drake Exterior Latch Door Plate
Oversized wrought brass art deco style door plate with thumb latch made by Lockwood. Drake design. Cir. 1932. Very geometric with triangular forms. The plate measures 8 1/4″h x 2 1/2″w at the widest point. The center to center distance form the doorknob hole to the thumbturn is 2 1/4″. The thumbturn extends 1 1/2″ from the back of the plate. The extension is a flat bar 3/16″w x 1/16″ thick.
The door plate has a nice patina with some variability.

Lockwood
Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
