Sargent 1888 Cabinet Latch

Decorative cabinet latch made by Sargent. Cir. 1888. Made of cast iron with a round decorative bronze knob. The latch operates by twisting the knob. The latch comes complete with matching cap. The latch is marked on the bottom Pat. Feb 7, 1871. Highly decorative Eastlake style with dense geometric and floral motifs. Together the latch measures 3.25″l x 2″w.

Sargent
Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
