Sargent Alby Face Plate

Door Face Plate.  The plate is made of wrought steel with a copper finish. It measures 7 1/4″l x 2 3/8″w. “Alby” Design by Sargent & Co. Cir 1901. A much copied Art Nouveau inspired design.

The door plate has some rust and finish loss.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
