Sargent Hartsdale Cylinder Door Plate

Door face plate for exterior door with a cylinder lock. The plate is made of wrought bronze. “Hartsdale” design by Sargent & Co. Cir. 1920-22. The door plate measures 10 1/2″h x 2 7/8″w. The center to center distance between the cylinder lock hole and doorknob hole is4″.  It features architectural shaping within a border. Similar designs were made by most of the major manufacturers of the time.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
