Sargent Hudson Exterior Face Plate

Oversized exterior door plate.  The plate is made of wrought bronze with a nice patina. It measures 10 1/2″l x 2 7/8″w.  “Hudson” Design by Sargent & Co. Cir 1926. Basic shaping and simple slightly decorative design typical of the 1920’s. The doorknob cup is slightly oversized at about 3/4″ interior diam. This should still work with most standard doorknobs, but if it has a particularly small neck, the doorknob may go through the hole.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
