Sargent New Bradford Door Plate- Nickel Plate

Single Art Deco style wrought brass door plate with nickel plate made by Sargent. New Bradford design. Cir. 1926.  Simple shaping and small decorative borders. The door plate measures 6″l x 1 5/8″w.  Nickel plating was often used for bathroom doors to prevent corrosion of the metal due to moisture.

Sargent
Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
