Sargent Skeleton Key 7

Skeleton key for use with doors made by Sargent. Marked Sargent & Co. along the shaft with a 7 above. On the reverse, the shaft is marked Pat. May 15, 88 (1888). The key measures 2 3/4″l with a 3/4″ long pin (insert). The bit has a notch at the bottom and on each side near the bottom. The right side has a groove running across near the top.

Some rust residue, but should not affect functionality.

Sargent

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
