FC Linde Door Plate Double Keyhole
Decorative solid bronze door plate made by FC Linde. Cir. 1885- 1892. This is a larger exterior plate that features 2 keyholes. One is 2″ (center to center) from doorknob hole. The second is 3 1/2″ (center to center) from doorknob hole. The bottom keyhole has a pivoting cover. This type of door plate was often used on hotels or apartments where you would have a master key and an individual key. Eastlake style with a filled background and floral motifs in the middle. The plate measures 7″h x 2″w.

F.C. Linde
F.C. Linde & Co. was a small hardware manufacturing company based out of Creskill, New Jersey. They did not produce their own catalogues, but their products can be found in Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. catalogues in the 1890s. This was their main distributor. Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. is still in operation under the name True Value. Barrows purchased F. C. Linde & Co. in 1890.
