Sargent M866-868 Flush Sash Lift
Antique decorative cast bronze flush sash lift made by Sargent. Cir. 1888. The design does not have a name in the catalogue, but is identified as M866-868 depending on size. This example measures 3″l x 1 3/4″w. The inset area 2 1/4″l x 1″w x 1/2″h from the bottom of the cap piece. It has two attachment holes on the inside of the inset area. The decoration is dense, featuring geometric and floral motifs. This is often considered an Eastlake style decoration scheme. This sash lift could also be used as a small pocket door hold.

Sargent
Sargent Manufacturing began in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. The founders were brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
